Patient treatment and research initiatives pursued at the Eye Care Centre at VGH do more than determine if a patient can see well. Eye examinations and treatment can detect a range of both eye and general health conditions. For instance, through an eye exam, a patient can learn if he or she has diabetes.

The Centre is an active hub for patient care, research and medical education. Current initiatives for the Eye Care Centre in need of donor support include renovations to house the Centre for Macular Research, expansion of clinical labs and research space, as well as acquisition of leading edge equipment and technology to ensure patients continue to benefit from the latest in patient care.
