Centre for Hip Health and Musculoskeletal Research
The Centre for Hip Health and the Musculoskeletal Research is
the first centre in the world to organize researchers and
clinicians including surgeons and other health care professionals
such as physiotherapists, together to focus on the issue of hip
joint health - a health care crisis in waiting. The
Centre’s goals are to decrease the prevalence of hip
fractures in Canada by 10% saving the health care system $100
million annually, to detect osteoarthritis earlier, and to double
the capacity for hip and knee surgery through more efficient
procedures that will decrease waiting times. Research is being
conducted with participants of all ages and examines bone and joint
health from a number of angles.
