Eye Care Centre
The Eye Care Centre at VGH is the largest eye facility in
Canada, providing diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of
conditions. The Centre is also one of the leading sites for the
delivery of cataract, glaucoma, oncology, ocular plastics and a
variety of other day surgeries with over 4,000 surgeries performed
annually. Research is an important focus for the Centre, and a
Centre for Macular Research has been created to understand the
causes of blindness and to find effective treatments. Expansion is
needed for the Eye Care Centre to consolidate all eye care
activities including the Centre for Macular Research into one
building, as well as to expand the surgical facilities increasing
available operating time in order to increase the number of
procedures thereby reducing wait lists.
