Men have often been the subjects of health research, but not the focus. This has unfortunately led to an impression that current health services meet men’s health needs. The establishment of the BC Men’s Health Institute will operate as a centre for excellence in men’s health and will focus on this with the goal of developing leadership, research, education, policy and standards of clinical care focusing on the unique health needs and perspectives of men. Establishing the BC Men’s Health Institute will enable the development of infrastructure to conduct research, benchmark clinical care and inform health policy for improved population health outcomes.
